چکیده

We report the observation of slow emission bands overlapped with the near-band-edge steady-state luminescence of nominally undoped ZnO crystals. At low temperatures the time-resolved spectra are dominated by the emission of several high-energy bound exciton lines and the two-electron satellite spectral region. Furthermore, two donor-acceptor pair transitions at 3.22 and 3.238 eV are clearly identified in temperature-dependent time-resolved spectroscopy. These donor-acceptor pairs involve a common shallow donor at 67 meV and deep acceptor levels at 250 and 232 meV. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.1946200

Investigation of the effect of amino-alcohol stabilizers on crystal structure, band gap and blue luminescence of Cu-doped ZnO nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method

In this research, Zn0.97Cu0.03O nanoparticles are prepared by sol-gel method using various stabilizers (Mono, Di, and Tri-ethanolamine). The effect of stabilizers on the structural, morphological and optical properties of the nanoparticles were investigated. Study of X-ray diffraction pattern shows the hexagonal wurtzite structure of samples. The crystallite size, strain, stress, and deformatio...

The Zn-vacancy related green luminescence and donor–acceptor pair emission in ZnO grown by pulsed laser deposition

A low temperature (10 K) photoluminescence study shows that green luminescence (GL) peaking at 2.47 eV and near band edge (NBE) emission at 3.23 eV are introduced in undoped ZnO grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) after 900 C annealing. The NBE emission exhibiting blue shift with increasing temperature is assigned to the transitions of the donor–acceptor-pair (DAP)/free-electron-to-acceptor ...

Time-resolved investigation of bright visible wavelength luminescence from sulfur-doped ZnO nanowires and micropowders.

Sulfur-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires grown on gold-coated silicon substrates inside a horizontal tube furnace exhibit remarkably strong visible wavelength emission with a quantum efficiency of 30%, an integrated intensity 1600 times stronger than band edge ultraviolet emission, and a spectral distribution that closely matches the dark-adapted human eye response. By comparatively studying sul...

Synthesis and characterization of doped and undoped ZnO nanostructures.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles have been produced using precipitation methods from ethanolic solution. Rare-earth metal doping was performed, and the effect of lithium codoping on the luminescence properties of the rare-earth doped products was assessed. The resulting particles were characterized using cathodoluminescence and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that lithium significantly...

Enhanced free exciton and direct band-edge emissions at room temperature in ultrathin ZnO films grown on Si nanopillars by atomic layer deposition.

Room-temperature ultraviolet (UV) luminescence was investigated for the atomic layer deposited ZnO films grown on silicon nanopillars (Si-NPs) fabricated by self-masking dry etching in hydrogen-containing plasma. For films deposited at 200 °C, an intensive UV emission corresponding to free-exciton recombination (~3.31 eV) was observed with a nearly complete suppression of the defect-associated ...
